Judge – Mrs Pat Butler-Holley
During my time showing I had the privilege of seeing many of the Raycroft dogs Clumbers included. I always attended talks (as we called them then) delivered by Ray Furness in order to learn more about Clumbers but also her Irish Setters. These talks were very valuable to me & I never stopped watching the breed. Therefore it was a delight to be invited to award CCs for the first time. I have seen changes in the breed also especially in head which I must say are much better & less exaggerated than before, however in my opinion be careful not to go to fine as plain heads are quite apparent. With the exception of one (which did take me by surprise) the temperaments are good. As this breed is on the KC breed watch the ears in general are OK, some dirty ones but nothing horrid to report. Thank you once again for allowing me to judge this wonderful breed & it was a great pleasure to see them not being affected by the heat of the day. | During my time showing I had the privilege of seeing many of the Raycroft dogs Clumbers included. A first class puppy, at just 9 months old he has a delightful attitude giving that wonderful aloof look but kind at the same time. Good large square head, but not overdone in any way. Good length of neck strong & thick, good bone & strong body. Moved effortlessly, should have a bright future.

A lot to like about this youngster, especially when viewed in profile both standing & on the move. My preference of watching the dogs free stand after moving gave a better view of this exhibit, as when stacked he tended to be 'bum high', yes he is only 13 months old & will alter as he develops & matures. His head is a little plain in expression at the moment, but well balanced in body & presented in great condition.

Both exhibits present moved with great drive, exhibiting lots of power as they effortlessly moved around the ring. Preferred winner in head, size & balance of body. Preferred 2 in coat colour & quarters but both moved as mentioned before with great drive. 1 Monaghan's Tweedsmuir Blaze Of Glory

A sound moving dog, striding out well in the heat of the day. Good body & substance, balanced in body, well ribbed back, strong loin & good wide powerful quarters. In my opinion I would have preferred more refinement in his head.

These mature males obviously had the scent of a bitch in season as each & every one of them were quite active to say the least. The dogs gave the handlers a hard time.

A wonderful example of a good Clumber Spaniel. He has well balanced head free from exaggeration, strong powerful neck, well angulated, good shoulders. Good bone & substance, strong body well ribbed back, strong wide quarters which he used well on the move. Delighted to award him the CC today
2nd | Ir Sh Ch NL Ch Wyclydo's Fast As The Wind At Glena - Reynolds |
Pushed the winner hard today, presented in fantastic coat & hard condition. Well balanced head, free from exaggeration in head & skull. Good eye, strong neck, well angulated shoulders. He is quite different in shape to winner, & he was without doubt proud of his tail today but as explained before I believe they all got the scent of a bitch in season. However I still like him & was delighted to award him the RCC

Confidence is this key to both these youngsters, along with time & experience, two delightful puppies. Preferred winner in overall balance of body & outline. Both moved well & great to see them free standing after moving, showing there attributes in full.

1st | Marshalver Miss Attitide - Boden & Monaghan |
A bitch with a lot of promise & potential. Overall she is well balanced showing all the attributes excepted Clumber bitch, she certainly looked aloof in her attitude, her head maybe a little finer than one would like at the moment but she still possess all the qualities required. Great body, strong well spring & well ribbed back. She pushed hard for the RCC today but just gave way to maturity on the day
2nd | Tavirosh Keen As Mustard - Robson |
Pleasing lady in many departments, quite a compact bitch, moved well.

In type & outline I preferred 2 but she didn't quite give her all when moving.

Presented in good hard condition, in full coat. Pleasing in head, strong neck & good shoulders, she is feminine without losing the power & substance required. Well balanced in body proportions. Strong quarters, she moved well showing good reach & drive, moving at one with her handler. Delighted to award her the RCC
2nd | Miss A Richley Ready To Rock With Antonine - Mcgillivray & Currie |
Not quite as well balanced in body as winner but still a top class bitch, pleasing in head, strong neck & shoulders, she as winner today moved effortlessly around the ring on this hot sunny day

Quite different in type than previous class winners, well balanced in body proportions, strong quarters & both moved OK. Both presented in good coat order, second placed bitch had maybe been enjoying rather too many lunches otherwise she shows great breed type.

Well what can I say I judged this bitch many years ago & thought her quite beautiful then & I have no reason to change my mind just because she is a veteran. She certainly enjoyed her day out moving with purpose. Her head is the classic shape large square & certainly not overdone in any way. She almost shows you the required frown before you put a hand on her. Her front angulation is good, she is so well balanced in body & head. Well ribbed back & strong loin. Good strong quarters. Just maybe she left a little bit of her coat at home but coat is not everything, I was so pleased to be able to award her the CC & BOB today. Enjoy your veteran times out. |
